The mystery of the sea, the transparency of water, the precious nature and the colours of the marine world. These are the sources of inspiration for the new Agua Collection, recently designed by Patricia Urquiola in collaboration with the Italian marble brand Budri.
The beauty of the finest marbles and onyxes, playing the main role in this collection, have many affinities with water, creating a fascinating design universe awaiting exploration.
Marble is pictorial, requires no introduction and is supreme in its natural beauty: a watercolour with shades of green, light pink and blue expressed in unusually limpid form through the combination with resins in bright hues, while, in this apparently rigid material, sinuous, wave-like lines leave eroded patterns on the shore.
The Agua collection consists of three lines of furniture and ornaments.
Marea comprises a dining table, a console table and two coffee tables, an exercise in the use of colour, in shades of greens and pinks, a selection of amazing stones from different parts of the world, combined to evoke the differing depths of the sea; the coffee tables, in two colour shades, have a monolithic leg connected to the circular top by a seamless graphic motif and finally the console table features the same sort of graphic motif and is in shades which run into pink.
Orilla – “shore” in Spanish – is inspired by the transparent green of the sea’s waters near the shore and comprises a dining table, four vases and a consolle: the table, in a limited edition due to the precious white Iranian onyx used, features unexpected transparent coloured sections, creating fine effects with the natural cloudiness of the white onyx, while the top and the base have the same linear engraved motif; two vases Orilla are in Iranian white onyx and fluo resins , two vases in Cipollino Green marble, with a sharp contrast between the solid, severe stone base and the fluorescent shades of the clear sections; the third, Piedras in composite marble, contains gemstone fragments.
In conclusion, Algas is an astonishing hexagonal vase which evokes the sinuous, fluctuating strands of seaweeds. It features a marble inlay in delicate shades, contrasting with unexpected clear sections; the Algas texture, in blue and green onyxes and marbles, recurs as the decorative background of the Marea table.
