Parcnouveau designs a garden suspended over the city for the Bulgari Hotel Roma

-

Born to become a tribute to the Eternal City and to the timeless glamour of the jewels of the Maison Bulgari, the new garden suspended over the city designed by Parcnouveau for the Bulgari Hotel Roma generates an immersive experience combining Roman nature and design on the rooftop with a breathtaking view of Rome.

Located inside one of the three rationalist buildings by Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo built in the late 1930s, which form the architectural backdrop to the square dominated in the center by the majestic presence of the mausoleum of Emperor Augustus, the critical challenge at the heart of the landscape project was to harmonize with the existing rationalist architecture, underlining its historical importance and, at the same time, creating new interactions with its elements.

In this project, greenery has the role of manifesting the vital energy that has moved into the building to create iconic spaces that redefine the architecture with flowers inspired by Bulgari jewels. Luca Manzocchi, Founding Partner of Parcnouveau, explains:

“Great spontaneity distinguishes the image we wanted to give to this project. A Mediterranean garden, characterized by the aromas of pomegranates and olive trees, is contrasted with a garden linked to tropical species, very colorful, which are a clear reference to the jewel effect. The result is a green landscape, which moves between naturalness and attention to detail, wrapping guests in a highly evocative dimension.”

The landscape project develops across the various levels of the building, starting from the Portico on the ground floor and extending to the courtyards and Terraces, up to the interior spaces.

The Portico, the first space that welcomes guests, is designed to offer an embracing experience. It offers a unique view of the surrounding square, with vegetation that punctuates the entrances and lounges. The different heights of these elements interact with the colonnade, creating a sense of lush greenery and a welcoming atmosphere.

The Terraces are places of conviviality, exclusive areas from which to enjoy the panorama of the city and its climate, inspired by the idea of spontaneity and eclecticism typical of Roman terraces. Pergolas colonized by climbing vegetation provide shade and comfort while groups of vases and tubs with small trees and Mediterranean vegetation embrace living rooms and tables, giving life to memorable landscapes with a remarkable visual identity.

The Rooftop is the most magical place, a suspended garden that dominates the entire monumental center of Rome, from Villa Medici and Trinità dei Monti to the Tiber and the Gianicolo Hill with an atmosphere that changes and evolves throughout the day. The vegetation extends along the entire edge in tubs of different sizes and with over 200 enameled vases in which a rich variety of native plants and flowers flourish, recalling the gardens of Ancient Roman villas such as Villa Livia and Villa Adriana, generating an iconic and surprising view of the city.
