Le Méridien Casablanca: Timeless Chic Elegance by Studio Marco Piva

Casablanca welcomes a new landmark in international hospitality: Le Méridien Casablanca, a five-star hotel whose interior design has recently been completed by Studio Marco Piva. Situated in the heart of the dynamic Ain Sebaa business district, the hotel offers 145 rooms, event spaces, wellness areas, dining venues, and communal areas, designed for a global audience. The project skillfully blended the elegance of the Le Méridien brand with the authentic soul of Morocco, defining a contemporary concept that embodies the principle of “Timeless Chic”.

Studio Marco Piva’s design vision created a distinctive image, interpreting and reflecting the spirit of the place through a contemporary lens while aligning with the brand’s identity and expectations. A careful research process guided the selection of materials and palettes: warm colors, sand-inspired textures, and decorative Moroccan motifs were reinterpreted in a modern key. Wood, soft fabrics, and tactile surfaces become the common thread in a narrative of authentic hospitality.

The common areas are the pulsating heart of the hotel. The Le Méridien Hub, a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional lobby, presents itself as a spacious, bright, and scenographic environment. Plays of light and shadow evoke traditional mashrabiya, reflecting on natural materials such as light wood, beige, and earthy tones, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. An imposing chandelier dominates the scene, acting as a luminous sculpture, amplifying the monumentality of the space. From the ground floor, a monumental staircase with an enveloping metal structure connects to the mezzanine, emphasizing verticality with a strong scenic impact. The business area and the Grand Ballroom, with a capacity of up to 270 guests, also express elegance and functionality through harmonious proportions and a neutral palette inspired by sand dunes, integrating discreet built-in storage systems.

The culinary experiences stand out. Le Safran, the fine dining restaurant, draws inspiration from Casablanca’s coastal landscape. A deep-blue ceramic wall covering evokes the movement of the Atlantic Ocean and the graphic patterns of traditional textiles, creating a sophisticated and welcoming environment. On the mezzanine floor, Le Marché, the all-day dining restaurant, offers a bright atmosphere with essential geometries. Custom furnishings in shades of Majorelle blue and terracotta recall the local context, while circular banquettes, resembling seashells, strengthen the symbolic link with the sea. The Lounge Bar, part of the Hub, transforms from a lively daytime café into a chic, vibrant evening setting, inspired by the Moroccan sky, with a ceiling of soft, concentric lines and a large circular light fixture evoking the moon.

The 145 rooms, divided into various categories including Classic, Superior, Premium, Junior Suite, Ambassador Suite, and Two-Bedroom Suite, offer a balance of comfort, functionality, and contemporary style. Natural materials and neutral tones define a bright atmosphere, enriched with decorative details that reinterpret local tradition, such as graphic fabric headboards. A glass wall between the bedroom and bathroom, reimagined as a contemporary mashrabiya, unites both functionality and poetic design, ensuring an authentic stay connected to the place.

The project Le Méridien Casablanca, developed between 2022 and 2025, involved HKO ex BERRADIA promo as the client, MOHAMMED ZOUBAA ARCHITECTE D.P.L.G. as the architect, and Studio Marco Piva for the interior design concept, spanning a built-up area of 12,650 sqm. The result is an authentic immersion in Moroccan culture, interpreted with an international vision.
