De Castelli, a pioneer in material research, unveils Ordita, a collection of metal surfaces that redefines the relationship between solidity and lightness. Being the result of a collaboration with textile designer Evelina Antuono, this project transforms the artisanal act of weaving into a new and fascinating material expression.
The six new and distinct surfaces of Ordita – DeChiné, DeBatì, DeTubé, DeSequì, DePiqué, and DeCramé – emerge from innovative research that gives metal an almost organic malleability. Through intense experimentation, De Castelli creates three-dimensional weaves that tell a visual and tactile story, paying homage to textile traditions and the artisanal savoir-faire of San Leucio. This renowned 18th-century manufacturing town near Naples, in fact, was a master at uniting art and industry, a principle that comes alive again in Ordita’s creations.
The synergy between advanced technology and expert craftsmanship allows De Castelli to employ oxidations, hammerings, and satin finishes. These processes create dynamic surfaces where reflections and textures constantly evolve, offering a multi-sensory experience that deeply engages the observer.
With Ordita, De Castelli invites exploration of new design perspectives, where research and innovation intertwine to redefine the aesthetic language of metal.
