Bar Italia Milano reborn: the green touch of Benetti Home

-

Milan welcomes the new look of the historic Bar Italia in Piazzale Lodi, a restyling that marks a turning point for the venue founded in 1959. Curated by interior designer Luca Medici, the project integrates tradition and nature, with Benetti Home, a company specializing in indoor vertical greenery, as a key partner.

Benetti Home’s intervention was crucial for creating a warm, welcoming, and harmonious environment, capable of offering a calm counterpoint to the fast-paced metropolitan rhythm of the city. Greeting guests in the main area is a dramatic feature wall measuring 320×145 cm. The Bar Italia Milano logo in brass is incorporated into this wall, crafted using Benetti MOSS stabilized in the Forest color. In another room, a second wall, measuring 400×200 cm, exhibits an elegant, stylized silhouette of the Duomo di Milano, realized with the same stabilized plant materials, reinforcing the venue’s bond with the city and its cultural heritage.

The greenery extends to the ceiling, where a series of hanging stabilized plant compositions cascade from the ceiling, enriching circular acoustic panels. This creates a captivating “suspended greenery” effect while also improving the acoustic quality of the space, blending visual appeal with auditory comfort. Special attention was also given to the restroom area, which is transformed into a visually impactful space thanks to a 160×130 cm wall installation made from Benetti Java stabilized foliage, bringing a creative, minimalist, and design-forward aesthetic even to the smallest details.

The greenery by Benetti is not just aesthetic, but a vehicle for well-being that strengthens the identity of Bar Italia Milano, making it a place where “people can feel at home”. This new concept offers an authentic experience of taste, conviviality, and connection, where guests can pause, work, chat, read, and enjoy moments with friends, family, or colleagues.
