Mathera is the name of the new-generation surface designed by Diego Grandi for SAIB which will be presented at Fuorisalone 2022 in Milan, taking inspiration from the world of stone materials.
Mathera consists of a thin layer of stone and quartz dust, which proposes a sort of surface sampling resulting from the interpretation of these materials, combined with a panel which is produced exclusively with end-of-life wood. Declined in three different textures and nine colours, Mathera combines yet unseen visual and tactile effects with innovative applications and a high impact, scratch, and rub resistance.
This surface represents a revolutionary design tool for interior design with several applications: kitchen tops, tables, kitchen furniture, wainscoting, doors, etc. Strong and compact, it is eco-friendly: the stone is given a new life by means of a process of recovery and regeneration which underlies SAIB’s entire production and is perfectly in line with the values of circular economy.
Mathera will be presented in the courtyards of the Università Statale di Milano within the framework of the exhibition INTERNI Design Re-Generation curated by the magazine Interni from 6th to13thJune 2022.
