Pedrali furnishes the historic boutique hotel La Monastica

Nestled in the enchanting hills of Buggiano Castello, between the cities of Lucca and Pistoia, La Monastica Resort & Spa is an exclusive 5-star boutique housed in a 16th-century monastery.

The resort’s main building, the former Monastery of Santa Scolastica, has been meticulously restored to preserve its original charm while incorporating modern elements that highlight its historical beauty.

The restoration project, launched in 2005, was a major initiative aimed at enhancing the region’s historical and cultural heritage. It encompassed not only the ancient religious complex but also several public spaces and internal walkways along the northern walls of the village. Every phase of the project was carried out with passion and expertise, preserving or faithfully reproducing original features—from wooden ceilings to historical decorations, reinstated with their authentic color tones. The choice of materials was guided by meticulous attention to detail, thanks to the contribution of expert craftsmen who brought the authentic soul of the structure back to life.

In this space reminiscent of a bygone era, Pedrali furniture stands out for its contemporaneity, creating a striking contrast between history and modernity. In the reception area, where guests are welcomed on a journey through time, Ester armchair, in its office version, and Buddy collection find their place. Ester, designed by Patrick Jouin, is a mix of elegance, ergonomics and functionality, here proposed with a yellow upholstered leather shell and with a four-spoke central base. Guests can also relax on Buddy poufs designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, featured by a contrast between the bold volumes of the seat and the slender lightweight frame and paired with the coffee table from the same collection.

Inside the resort, the Devoti Restaurant offers guests the chance to savor the authentic flavors of Tuscan culinary tradition. The architectural and decorative elements, designed to evoke spirituality, create today an elegant and cosy ambience, perfect for being inspired by taste and conversation.

In the former Church of Santa Scolastica, the site’s spiritual essence is paired with the elegance of contemporary design. Following a refined restoration, the space exudes a captivating atmosphere, further enhanced by the openness of the nave. Here, Blume tables, designed by Sebastian Herkner, are paired with Jazz seating collection, in the new chair with armrests version. Blume table echoes the fine lines of the family, whose distinctive force emerges from the column in extruded aluminium with a sophisticated flower-shaped profile featuring along its entire height, for a unique style. Harmony of shapes, ergonomics and elegance are the characteristics of Jazz chair with armrests, selected for the occasion in the terracotta colour.

In the same room find also place Vic barstools by Patrick Norguet in white colour, characterised by an elegant yet minimal outline: a comfortable and cozy collection featured by a curved backrest raised from the seat, which creates a sense of lightness.

The “Loggiato”, overlooking the Valdinievole valley, is the ideal place to enjoy gastronomic proposals or to have a drink while being charmed by the beauty of the landscape. Here Lamorisse armchairs by CMP Design find their perfect location. The structure of the armchair, made in extruded aluminium, with oval legs welded to round tube armrests, holds a large and enveloping cushion in polyurethane foam, making it perfect for relaxing in the open air.

In a more intimate room, where an old fireplace makes the atmosphere warm and cosy, Anemos table by Pio & Tito Toso is paired with Jazz chairs with armrests, both selected in the terracotta colour. Anemos is a table characterised by simple yet architectural shapes. Its distinctive feature lies in the base, composed by two separate aluminium shells secured to the top, that take on a flexible and sinuous shape through a double curvature. A visually light yet stable and solid table, capable of supporting large round tops.

The bar corner features Ester barstools by Patrick Jouin. Characterised by soft and graceful lines, the stools maintain the steel tube legs that characterise the armchairs: here, they are selected with upholstered shell in aviation blue and burgundy. In the same room, Blume chairs and lounges are paired with tables from the same collection. Designed by Sebastian Herkner, the collection is characterised by soft, rounded shapes: the precious frame made of extruded aluminium and the generous upholstery blend harmoniously, providing extreme comfort.

The modern and cosy “Cantina” is the ideal setting for savoring a curated selection of fine wines. Here Fox armchairs by Patrick Norguet, defined by a harmonious interplay of materials and contrasting geometric lines, are paired with Arki-Table and Arki-Bench from the same collection. Fox is a stylish collection of armchairs with a distinctive personality and compact dimensions, whose versatility is ensured by the multiple colour combinations between the curved solid ash wood backrest and the polypropylene shell. Arki-Table and ArkiBench are distinguished by their solid oak trestle legs, making them both functional and stylish for any setting.

Finally, in an elegant elevated room with a cross-vaulted ceiling in delicate cobalt blue, Jazz chairs with armrests, selected in the same refined shade, create a harmonious and inviting ambiance. In this room, Blume with antique brass-finished columns further enhance the space, adding an extra touch of sophistication and elegance.
