CEDIT and Formafantasma present Cromatica

-

A collection that celebrates the tradition of tile manufacturing and the technical perfection of modern production process at the same time, looking for a new concept of versatility mainly based on color and size.

This is Cromatica, the ceramics collection designed by Formafantasma studio for CEDIT – Ceramiche d’Italia (made in Florim) to investigate the potential of color changes in contemporary ceramic manufacturing.

Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin of Formafantasma used the color palette created for CEDIT by Ettore Sottsass in the Eighties as the starting point for the development of their design: inspired by his glazes, Cromatica consists of six colors with two surface finishes (natural and glossy) and, by enhancing a variety of new technologies, these colors are realized with new shades and variations within every single panel.

In addition, the collection is available in a large number of sizes with each one designed in full size or cut into smaller sizes: when combined – even at random – mixtures of different colors are created and reveal a wealth of shades, reflections and depth

According to the designers, the ceramics provide the perfect backdrop for interior designs with unique chromatic combinations; they conclude:

This work represents a reflection on colors, and above all a proposal on how to transfer the multiplicity of shades typical of a hand-crafted piece into a project produced on a large scale.”
