Giulio Iacchetti redesigns the mandolin

-

Mandolin reloaded. Music and design can go together when the famous designer Giulio Iacchetti redesigns an ancient instrument that is the symbol of Italian folk heritage, surprisingly taking inspiration from the largery forgotten Lombard mandolin tradition.

Giulio Iacchetti has played the mandolin since he was a boy and wanted to create a more contemporary model: he worked together with stringed instrument maker Tiziano Rizzi to escape from the typical idea of Neapolitan folklore and pick up the unknown Lombard custom.

Consequently, the volumes have been redesigned and all redundant decoration stripped away; Iacchetti has also created a slimmer, more streamlined headstock (the end part at the end of the fretboard with the tuning pegs), the same width as the nut.

Let’s play!
