On the occasion of IMM Cologne 2020 a stand inspired by the modernist home and designed by architects Calvi & Brambilla was the ideal location for Desalto to present its design philosophy, result of uninterrupted research, innovation in materials and attention to function, without ignoring quality.
The architecture of the exhibition space follows a plan divided into five areas, separated and marked by walls and light partitions, with suspended panels in different materials and a variety of colours: in these spaces - dining room, living room, outdoors and studio – the latest products express themselves with great efficacy.
MM8, designed by Guglielmo Poletti, is a lacquered table with 8mm-thick aluminium top and two cylindrical supports covered in aluminium plate; Void is a collection of tables and consoles, with pure volumes, solid and light at the same time, also by Guglielmo Poletti; Strong, designed by Eugeni Quitllet, is a collection comprising dining table, bar table, chair and stool where the star performer is the curved steel tube (bar table and bar stool are also available in the outdoor version); Aria, designed by Atelier Oi, is a comfortable lounge chair in mesh fabric, with an ethereal, almost immaterial appearance.
Then, there are Mun, designed by Mario Ferrarini, a small armchair whose welcoming lines perfectly echo the geometry of the full moon, and lastly Step, designed by Nendo, a bookcase system defined by clean lines and light volumes.
In the various room layouts, intermingled with the many innovations and in harmonious balance, are pieces already present in the collection, so in addition to an icon like the Clay table, there is for example the Helsinki bookcase: a combination of products which become perfect ambassadors of the true essence and spirit of Desalto.
