The Goethe Hotel, luxury hospitality inspired by the Grand Tour in Rome

-

A new hotel will open in Rome in February: The Goethe Hotel, an exclusive five-star luxury boutique hotel that is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World network as well as the result of an investment in the Italian capital by the top player in the sector, Pacini Group.

Located between the Ara Pacis Museum and Piazza del Popolo, with its 27 rooms The Goethe Hotel is designed to recall in every detail the 19th century experience of the Grand Tour, during which European nobles and intellectuals travelled to discover Western antiquities.

THE STRUCTURE

The hotel’s design, curated by architects Chiara Caberlon and Claudia Benzi, follows two cardinal principles of Goethe’s philosophy: the relationship with objects, which acquire an almost thaumaturgic power, and the power of art and culture, which for Goethe represented the strongest link with the world and at the same time the most reliable way to escape from it.

As soon as they enter, guests will be immediately greeted by the infinite library, a custom-made circular installation that praises the healing power of culture.

The lobby and common areas inspired by Rome’s intellectual lounges are a sequence of warm and cosy atmospheres, enriched by vintage details and precious furnishings related to the theme of travel. Every detail has been carefully designed to create an environment where art, history and modernity coexist in perfect harmony. A palette of colours and lights inspired by the poet’s colour theory is combined with precious materials and references to the iconic stages of the Grand Tour.

Each room of the 27 at The Goethe Hotel has its own identity, and among them the 3 thematic suites stand out: the Doge suite, dedicated to Venice, with the charm of Fortuny tapestries evoking the magic of the Serenissima; the Medici suite, a tribute to Florence and the Renaissance, enriched with antique scientific instruments; the Bourbon suite, inspired by Naples, where mysticism and sensuality come together in a Rococo aesthetic.

The restaurant and lounge bar, which will be called Affinity – Kitchen & Alchemy, the beating heart of the hotel, a multifunctional space for connecting and sharing that takes its inspiration from Goethe’s work The Elective Affinities, completes the framework of the structure.

Last but not least, for relaxation and wellness, the private spa offers guests an oasis where they can regenerate and regain balance.

As from February, The Goethe Hotel will conquer Rome as a tribute to wonder, a promise to experience the city from a new and exciting perspective, inspired by the great tradition of European culture.
