A poetic dialogue between dimensions, shapes and meanings in which the traditional qualities of ceramics are enhanced and updated: this is the definition that perfectly describes IDILLA, the new collection of washbasins, sanitaryware, a ceramic structure and a mirror designed by Manuel Di Giacobbe for Alice.
IDILLA extols the materiality and returns to the roots of ceramic with substantial, compact edges conjuring up the idea of handcrafted products thrown on a wheel yet with a contemporary design offering a fresh new look.
The collection’s flowing lines give rise to monolithic shapes with three ceramic countertop washbasins, a distinctive floor-standing washbasin, wall-hung and floor-standing sanitaryware and bidet complemented by a mirror cabinet and a striking fully ceramic structure. Each product retains the characteristic feature of inwardly bevelled edges that accentuate the flowing yet solid shapes.
IDILLA introduces three different shaped ceramic countertop washbasins: round (Ø42 cm; h 13), bevelled square (40 cm; h 13) and oval (60×35 cm; h 13) to offer options to suit any bathroom with a combination of statement style and functionality. The three washbasins all share solid edges with a maximum width of 3 cm to enhance the identity of the ceramic and a subtle suspended effect over the countertop, created by a discreet 5 mm raised detail that accentuates the flowing forms, and also creates an evocative effect of light and shade.
The stand-out piece is the floor-standing washbasin which further elevates this collection: with its gentle, wraparound profile, it is reminiscent of a monolith measuring 85 cm tall and 45 cm across. The washbasin’s material nature exudes substance, expressing Alice’s pursuit for perfection and expertise in moulding the ceramic into such an ancestral, cylindrical and clean shape.
The collection offers wall-hung and floor-standing sanitaryware and bidet solutions, both with a depth of 55 cm. Plus, the wall-hung options have the unique quality of being just 23 cm high so they appear much more streamlined than standard designs.
All the sanitaryware in the IDILLA collection features the innovative aliflush+ technology, the flush system that produces a powerful vortex of water that ensures a very efficient flush that is also much quieter than traditional flushing systems, and the slow soft-close seat cover. The collection’s wall-hung sanitaryware also offer the Fischer WB Klix rapid-release wall fixing system that maximises efficiency and ease of use.
Just like all Alice collections, IDILLA ceramic products are protected by the aliglaze+ system. a special antibacterial glaze guaranteed to protect surfaces so they always stay clean and germ free. This type of glaze has proven to be highly effective as its composition includes antimicrobial agents, such as silver, titanium and zinc ions, that inhibit the growth of bacteria. The glaze is also designed to be wear and abrasion resistant over time.
A novel fully ceramic structure (90×50 cm; h 80) adds the finishing touch to the collection: two large cylindrical supports 18 cm in diameter match the full height of the unit and accommodate two oval ceramic shelves (75×50 cm; h 3) that join seamlessly with the supports.
The collection offers a myriad of on-trend colours and finishes. In addition to basic white gloss, there are ten colour solutions with a matt finish: White, Black, Coffee, Grey, Sand, Pink, Lagoon, Ginger, Mauve and Alpine Green, and four colour solutions with a gloss finish: Myrtle, Pine, Tabasco and Honey. And last but not least are the four elegantly refined solutions in the Material finish created with an exclusive production process known as decalcomania, in which a special film is applied to the items before the final firing at 900° in the kiln: Carrara, Marquinia, Bronze and Amazon. Finally, two metal finishes are available exclusively for the washbasins: Platinum and Gold.
Rounding off the collection is the IDILLA mirror cabinet. Created in a one-size oval shape measuring 85×50 cm and 9 cm deep with matte black powder-coated stainless steel. An exquisitely unusual design feature is the ceramic handle elegantly set into the surface of the mirror, perfect for easily opening the door and accessing the three convenient internal shelves. Available in all Alice colours and finishes.
