Salone del Mobile.Milano 2025: a future of design between innovation and humanism

-

The 63rd edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, scheduled from April 8th to 13th, 2025 at Fiera Milano, Rho, is shaping up to be an unmissable event for the design sector on an international level. With over 2,000 exhibitors from 37 countries, 38% of whom are from abroad, the event confirms its role as a crucial point of reference for companies in the sector, offering a strategic platform for business, sustainable innovation and internationalization. The 2025 edition, with an exhibition area of over 169,000 square meters entirely sold out, also sees the return of Euroluce, with more than 300 brands from 25 countries.

The Salone is not just a fair, but a true ecosystem that promotes growth and supports an innovative and future-oriented business model. The total turnover of the Italian brands exhibiting in April is 9,238,429,199 euros, equal to 34% of the turnover of the entire national Furnishing Macro System, to which 6,989,984,073 euros of total turnover of foreign brands are added.

Maria Porro, President of Salone del Mobile.Milano, had this to say: “We closed the 2024 edition with record numbers: over 370,000 professionals from 146 countries. This year the Salone will yet again open in April with totally sold out exhibition area, despite the uncertainties of the global scenarios. A result that illustrates our constant commitment to improving the visitor experience, services to the public and exhibitors, promotional activities abroad, and the creation of new formats that have enabled us to forge new strategic alliances over the past year in the United States, China, and – not least – to sign a Memorandum this January with Saudi Arabia, which will open up new opportunities for Made in Italy in a market in which sectoral exports are up 22.8%. Our mission has always been to turn the international spotlight on the sector’s excellence. In Milan, and throughout the world. The percentage of Italian and foreign exhibitors attending the last 10 editions of the annual exhibitions is 59.4%. A figure that, in the overall context of international exhibitions, is testament to the success of the Salone in its dual role as business accelerator and content producer. As always, every year the Salone reinvests heavily not only in the trade fair, but also in a leading Cultural Programme. In an ever-changing world, we are all called upon to become part of a broader vision that enables us to interpret the environmental, cultural, social, and technological transformations. For the Salone, investing in culture means investing in the future of companies, strengthening their competitiveness in the long term. Taking part in the Salone means exhibiting, connecting and producing value, as well as actively contributing to the evolution of the sector, as part of a platform that fuels debate on scenarios and visions for the future.

A high-level cultural program

This year’s cultural program is enriched with three site-specific installations, both at the Salone and in the city:

Pierre-Yves Rochon. Villa Héritage (Pavs. 13-15): An interior design project that explores luxury as a multi-sensory experience. The villa, with its themed rooms, aims to be a bridge between memory and innovation.

Paolo Sorrentino. La dolce attesa (Pavs. 22-24): An installation that reflects on the theme of waiting as a journey that “stuns and hypnotizes.” The Oscar-winning director creates a timeless space, a metaphor of existence.

Robert Wilson. Mother (Museo Pietà Rondanini – Castello Sforzesco): A dialogue between art, light and sound, with the famous American artist interacting with Michelangelo’s masterpiece. The work will be accompanied by music by Arvo Pärt. The installation will also be open beyond Design Week.

The forum will see the participation of over 20 international speakers, including lighting designers, architects, artists, scientists, and other experts11…. Among the guests: Stefano Mancuso, a pioneer in plant neurobiology, the “solar designer” Marjan van Aubel, and Kaoru Mende, a Japanese lighting designer.

Drafting Futures and SaloneSatellite

There will also be the Talks and Round Tables of Drafting Futures (Pav. 14), which will bring together some of the brightest minds on the contemporary scene. Among the participants: Lesley Lokko, Valeria Segovia, and Paolo Sorrentino. In addition, SaloneSatellite, with 700 designers under 35 and 20 international Schools and Universities, will explore the theme of “New Craftsmanship” as a bridge between heritage and the future.

Over 100 showrooms of exhibiting brands will join the Fuorisalone circuit. The event will also involve over 100 students to provide information to the public.

Partnerships and collaborations
