Sophisticated materials and new languages: Smania at Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai

-

Disseminating the innate artisan culture of Italian know-how in a country always very receptive and interested in exclusivity and sartorial skill: this was Smania’s aim for Salone del Mobile.Milano Shanghai’s last edition, where the brand created exclusive, luxury and unconventional settings  and a collection of sober and sophisticated colours, from white, to beige, blues and gold in which valuable, sought-after materials are mixed together, which take form thanks to the most skilful artisan mastery.

The lunch area was characterised by the DEAN table by Alessandro La Spada: wood, leather and metal become more fascinating due to the round shape, which evokes conviviality, and the new version presented in Shanghai proposes the top in gold coloured Calacatta marble; moreover, four AURA chairs, with a sober and delicate shape, surround the table and the COTTON chandelier completes the room, while, along the wall, a decorative panel provides the backdrop to the VICTORY dresser, the perfect synthesis between the softness of the leather, the strength of the wood and the brilliance of the polished steel.

In the dining area the centrepiece is the PAUL table which, together with the GATSBY chairs, decisive and comfortable seats, characterised by an open back that plays on the theme of full and empty, are among the absolute novelties of the new 2018 collection; at the centre is the MARCEL chandelier in polished black nickel steel with opal glass diffusers.

In addition, the Smania living room is, for the occasion, made up of the MIAMI sofa, in which the decisive character of the lines meets the decorative dynamism of the embroidery that embellishes the back and arms, while the geometric severity of the frame contains large, soft cushions that define a reassuring image; alongside the ORM and GISELLE coffee tables; at the centre are two CORAL armchairs with a welcoming and inviting design and the IRIDE table, which puts the accent on the variety of finishes: marble or wood for the top, leather or fabric for the outer covering.

The bedroom contains the PARIS bed, the first capitonné model in the brand’s catalogue, offered in cream nabuk: the timeless charm of the classic bedhead, which displays diamond lozenges defined by a button on each point, is reinterpreted through fluid modern lines able to lighten the austere and sought-after British elegance; moreover, two MAILA lamps stand on ARGO bedside tables. The style of the room is enriched by the LOREN make-up furniture, designed to combine style and function in a highly eclectic piece, accompanied by a pouf, the ERMETE chest of drawers, in which leather, wood and metal once again make up an item of designer furniture; finally the FLOOR free-standing lamp, the MOON coffee table, the new EMBASSY armchair, designed by the architect Iosa Ghini, an original, dynamic and comfortable seat, with fully upholstered surfaces and frame, and arched arms.

The Chief Executive Officer Francesco Snaidero said:

We decided to reconfirm our presence at the third edition of the Salone del Mobile of Shanghai, because we believe that it is an important and successful showcase for coming into contact and consolidating relationships with architects, designers, current and potential clients. The Chinese market represents, for us, a project of consolidation that, over the years, brings an exponential increase in turnover and that is being enriched with the opening of new sales outlets on the territory.”
