It’s a done deal. Officially approved, the new glass office building designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano in Central London as a part of the Paddington Square development will be completed by the end of 2021.
The project, called “The Cube”, consists of a cylindrical tower that will be Paddington Square’s centerpiece, a very important step in the process of the transformation of the site around Paddington Railway Station, which will include new offices, shops and restaurants.
In addition, with a new Bakerloo line station and the arrival of the new Elizabeth line, Paddington Square will dramatically improve transport connectivity and become one of the major transport hubs in London, with direct fast links to Heathrow, the West End, the City and Canary Wharf.
The complete demolition of the site’s existing buildings was scheduled for the end of 2018, with construction starting in early 2019. A great urban intervention where Renzo Piano emerges as a protagonist once again.
