In order to design Libera, the new modular and adaptable lighting system that represents a major breakthrough in the field of linear lighting, Catalan designer, Maurici Gines, founder of Artec Studio, and iGuzzini began with a shared idea about the crucial role of light and its integration within the space.
The three components of the system, the light rod, joint and base, are integrated seamlessly to create a unified whole; each part is carefully crafted with formal intent: the conical section bar, brass joint and base are all designed to serve both as decorative and functional features.
The base module can be used alone or to construct adaptable and engaging decorative geometries. In addition, a beneficial degree of formal ambiguity allows the lighting system to generate hybrid graphics that enter the space in a unique manner on each occasion. The design can engage with the environment in which it is positioned, facilitating conversation with those who reside there.
The stand-out feature of Libera, apart from being a system, is Opti Diamond, which is a professional optic of exceptional visual comfort and lighting efficiency, contained within a truly miniature size. Not only that, but the lighting system also features optics that incorporate an opal diffuser, including up/down functions, in two different colours, fulfilling both a functional task when switched on and an aesthetic one when switched off.
The brass joint, precious and sustainable, emphasises the formal and functional transitions; it is a shiny, golden joint that serves to highlight the energy path and changes in the direction of the light lines.
Libera can be used freely in any setting, from offices to homes to public spaces. It is equipped with smart sensors and can be easily controlled through Bluetooth technology, using a device such as a smartphone. Finally, the light rods and base come in four colours (white, black, titanium, blue) which match the colours of the joint and cable accessories. Feel free to design.
