The new SDA Bocconi School of Management campus, designed by Japanese studio SANAA, is an innovative and futuristic complex equipped with the most advanced technologies for sustainability, located in the former “Centrale del Latte” area in Milan.
The façades of the buildings, featuring smooth lines, are characterised by trasparencies that emphasise the idea of openness while fostering the continuity between interior and exterior spaces; glass is the main character, protected by metal surfaces that enhance a suspended sense of lightness.
The buildings’ courtyards form a natural and green environment from the inside, while the outer perimeter faces the city and the park.
Here, Pedrali furnishes Materia restaurant and La Centrale bistro, two food courts run by Compass Group Italia and AD Arte Food.
La Centrale bistro is addressed, in addition to academic staff and students, also to external guests and this setting is characterised by large indoor and outdoor areas and glass walls, offering a full day service from breakfast to lunch and aperitif.
This space is furnished with Nolita chairs, designed by CMP Design, and Stylus tables.
Nolita is a family of outdoor seatings which recalls the origins of a historic course started by Mario Pedrali in 1963 with his first metal garden chairs. A chair completely made of steel featuring simple and iconic lines, perfect for enjoying convivial moments, in line with Campus’ philosophy aimed at creating challenging and welcoming places of sharing.
The à-la-carte restaurant Materia is organised in two areas separated by an open kitchen: an intimate dining corner reserved for internal users and their guests on one side and a wider space for students on the other.
The latter is characterised by wide glass walls along which tables with Tivoli and Inga chairs by Pedrali are placed. Featuring simple and essential lines in neutral tones, they reflect the architecture and seem to float in this large space flooded with natural light.
Tivoli chair, designed by CMP Design, is made of solid ash wood with three-dimensional plywood back and recalls the traditional wooden chairs, maintaining comfort and inspiring conviviality; on the other hand, Inga chair, with genuine leather shell, pays tribute to the Northern European female elegance.
