Signature Kitchen Suite presents Mantle, the new cabinet by Patricia Urquiola

Signature Kitchen Suite, the top-of-the-range brand of built-in appliances, has collaborated with international designer Patricia Urquiola to create Mantle, the modular free-standing cabinet designed to house the Undercounter convertible refrigerator, a built-in appliance characterised by two drawers o!ering “exible temperature management.

In increasingly fluid spaces, where the boundaries between living room and kitchen are blurred, Urquiola has set out to transform the domestic appliance into an authentic furnishing element, by integrating Signature Kitchen Suite technology with a textural cabinet, sculptural in form and pervaded by an aura of craftsmanship.

Hence the refrigerator becomes a versatile object of design, physically and visibly more accessible, suitable for positioning in di!erent areas of the home, such as the lounge, the bedroom or even the bathroom, as well as in public spaces such as hotels and o#ces.

In this respect, the Undercounter convertible refrigerator by Signature Kitchen Suite is the perfect counterpart for this project: thanks to its reduced dimensions and practical layout with two convertible drawers that lend themselves to personalisation, it is an extremely versatile appliance for the storage of food, beverages and even beauty or pharmaceutical products.

The cabinet is available in three modular variants: the basic module with the refrigerator may be integrated with additional storage space via either a horizontal or vertical extension.

At Milan Design Week, Mantle was presented with the exclusive finish in Cimento tiles (also signed by Patricia Urquiola) and produced using the eponymous material, a revolutionary and light concrete compound made from natural components. The tiles – in shades of Vanilla, Blue, Burgundy, Green or Sand – enclose the refrigerator with repetitive shapes to create a design that evolves into a sort of sculptural visual fabric, almost like a modern totem. As an alternative, a wood finish is also available, in a natural or stained colour.

Technology in the kitchen has never been so cool.
