On the occasion of recent Milan Design Week, Draga & Aurel art and design studio presented Tinted Hues, a new exclusive project for Milanese gallery Nilufar designed to explore the potential of materials – epoxy resin and Lucite, first and foremost – and their ability to respond to light and color.
Tinted Hues include handmade collectors’ items featuring smooth forms and subtle hues; combinations of pastel colors and opal inserts come together in evocative, almost spellbinding nuances.
GLAZE Table Collection
Glaze is a new family of dining and coffee tables made from Lucite using innovative experimental techniques. The round shapes are enlivened by the juxtaposition of pastel colors and milky streaks, skilfully blended to create a mesmerizing visual shaded effect. When light is reflected in it, the unique processing makes the object always appear different.
DEWDROPS Coffee Table
As pure and simple as drops of dew, Dewdrops are modular coffee tables that spark the imagination and encourage the playful combination of multiple pieces that together form endless new compositions. The metal base supports a drop of transparent colored resin that is both glossy and impalpable, creating a “blown” aesthetic.
PUFFED Pouf
This new collection of monochrome poufs is both fun and extremely comfortable at the same time. Its simple and linear mushroom shape is embellished by the combination of materials, finishes, and textures, and is a nod to the work of Jeff Koons. The base is treated with a special varnish and holds a comfortable foam seat with knitted stretch velvet upholstery, which makes the piece seductive and playful.
An impressive artistic backdrop, designed specifically for the exhibition spaces on Via della Spiga, alternates layered brushstrokes with an eclectic collage. The use of cool colors – blue, lilac, and green – on the Lucite gives an overall effect of depth and three-dimensionality. It’s a new fusion of design and art.
