The new dance school by Barozzi Veiga reflects in Zurich

-

The Italian-Spanish studio Barozzi Veiga has recently completed the Tanzhaus Zürich project, that is the new dance school in Zurich, designed together with the redevelopment of the bank of the river Limmat, which has been transformed into an attractor of public activities.

The architects created a roof that becomes an extension of the sidewalk at the street level, with the aim to sectorialize the flows of people: the private entrance of the insiders, the school offices and the backstage spaces are located on the upper floor, while on the lower floor there is a large foyer open to the public through a glass facade.

In addition, the building’s shape is characterised by a sequence of trapezoidal columns that represents a link between indoor and outdoor space and allows the passage of natural light in the structure.

The result is an elegant architecture, integrated with the urban landscape.
